National Volunteering Week Turns 10

 18–24 January, 2023, marked the 10th edition of India@75's flagship event, National
Volunteering Week (NVW). This year the theme was People. Partnership. Participation: Collaborations for New India@100. Corporates, NGOs and CII State offices across India participated enthusiastically.

 

With the pandemic having loosened its hold, NVW 2023 saw a huge surge in individual and institutional engagement. Thousands of volunteers from across India availed this opportunity to help causes ranging from child development, climate action, rural and community development, health, nutrition and sports and culture.

NVW session on People. Partnership. Participation: Collaboration for New India@100

On the 18th of January, 2023, India@75 Foundation held a panel discussion on People. Partnership. Participation: Collaboration for New India@100, to mark the culmination of the National Youth Week and the commencement of National Volunteering Week (NVW), which the Foundation holds between the 18th and 24th of January every year. 

The panel touched on a range of issues such as leveraging the power of youth for nation building, institutionalising a National Volunteering Day and synergising the efforts of corporate and individual volunteers through institutionalised volunteerism.

Fireside chat

As India completes its 75th year of independence, it is important to set a higher standard in terms of aspirations and initiative. The 25 years leading up to India@100 are an opportunity to create the India of one’s dreams.

To find out what such an India could be, the Foundation has started a series of Fireside Chats called I Have a Dream, with people synonymous with excellence in their field. These conversations reflect on the personal journey of the speakers and their wish list for India@100. They also provide important insights into what could be the way forward in areas key to the country’s development.

Each individual audio recording of India@75’s Fireside Chat is also aired as a
podcast episode under CII Podcast Post-event. Top Indian Industry leaders and
experts share ideas and insights that matter to businesses, large and small, across
sectors. Listen to their perspectives here.

Volunteers spearhead the Functional Literacy Programme during the National Volunteering Week

India@75 Foundation organised 4 workshops during the 10th Edition of NVW at Delhi, Jhansi, Nagpur, Parbhani. 63 volunteers helped 780 beneficiaries from Economically Weaker Sections, learn how to use the digital space to better their lives.

The topics covered during the workshop were: 

  • Use of digital payment tools like Phone Pay & Google Pay
  • Awareness regarding online payment frauds, countering fake message.
  • Cyber security of Facebook and other social media accounts,
  • Use of an ATM card, opening bank accounts, Aadhaar card information.

India@75 Foundation ran a short promotional film urging individuals, institutions and industry to participate in the National Volunteering Week. And participate they did – NVW 2023 recorded amongst the highest numbers of volunteers. Watch the film to find out why it resonated.
