• More Than 500 Participants From Corporates and Various Colleges

 

The Fifth edition of CII - India@75’s cycling extravaganza “India@75 ride” was organized for the very first time in Visakhapatnam. The initiative was supported by Andhra Pradesh Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA), Government of Andhra Pradesh and Young Indian’s (Yi), a CII initiative.

 

India@75 envisions how India should be in its 75th year of independence and creates platforms to engage fellow citizens in various nation building activities. India@75 organized a cleanliness drive at RK Beach and a cyclothon on November 12 in Visakhapatnam to promote cycling as a healthy way of life and to propagate Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.


The cyclothon saw participation of more than 500 cycling enthusiasts from various corporates, colleges in multiple ride segments. Youngest participant was 6 years old and the oldest rider was 58 years. The cyclothon was flagged off by Dr V Murali Krishna, Chairman, CII, Visakhapatnam zone from Beach Road and covered various areas in the city. Mr D Tirupathi Raju, Vice Chairman, CII, Visakhapatnam zone was also present on the occasion.

 

Around 20 riders completed the 75 km “Signature Ride” of the event. The Signature ride is conceptualized to coincide with India@75 theme and saw professionals; software engineers and cycling enthusiasts participate in the ride.

 

Around 400 volunteers of Young Indian’s Yuva initiative participated in the beach cleaning drive and spread the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
