With an objective of 500 developed cities by 2022 under ‘Sustainable Urbanization’ vision, India@75 endeavors to augment the efforts of Government which has also declared its objective of 500 developed cities including 100 Smart Cities by 2022. Facilitation of collaboration amongst stakeholders for participative urbanization has been the focus of India@75 to enable citizens in exploring and identifying local solutions for local issues. One of the initiative is establishing ‘City Connect  Platforms’ in cities, these  comprise representation from stakeholders and act as an interface between the people and the administration for prioritizing addressing of issues to meet the aspirations of local citizenry.

As on date five City Connect Platforms have been established on the Bengaluru model, in Chennai, Pune, Goa, Trivandrum and Gurugram. Pune City Connect  has collaborated with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)  for its  ‘Lighthouse‘ programme and trained about 750 youth for sustainable livelihoods, besides helping PMC in raising INR 2000 Mn through bonds. Pilots undertaken by the City Connect Platforms for showcasing model bus stop, footpaths, roads, waste management etc serve as the basis of the formation of RFPs by the ULBs for scaling up across the city through funds from various sources. About 20 cities have been shortlisted and execution is in different stages of implementation.
